How to Add a New Practitioner
Why Use This Function:
Adding a New Practitioner to the Practitioner List ensures seamless integration into the daily operations of the Practice. This allows Practitioners to be assigned Patients, access relevant medical records, and contribute to treatment plans. It also facilitates accurate billing, Medical Aid claims, and role-based access control within the system. Additionally, adding a Practitioner enables efficient scheduling, internal communication, and compliance with record-keeping requirements. By maintaining an up-to-date list of Practitioners, the Practice can operate smoothly, streamline workflow collaboration, and enhance Patient care.

- Click on the Add New button.
- The Add/Update Practitioner screen will open.
- Click on the Search Through Master Practitioner List field to search whether the Practitioner you want to add has been loaded on your system.
💡Please Note: Only Practitioners loaded at the Practice will appear in the search.
- Click on the Import Practitioner button to Import a Practitioner from the MediBase list.

- Click on the Title drop-down menu to select an appropriate option.
- Click on the Initials field to enter the Practitioner's Initials.
- Click on the Name field to enter the Practitioner's Name.
- Click on the Surname field to enter the Practitioner's Surname.
- Click on the Telephone No. field to enter the Practitioner's telephone number.
- Click on the Fax No. field to enter the Practitioner's fax number if applicable.
- Click on the Qualification field to enter the Practitioner's highest qualification.
- Click on the Physical Address field to enter the Practitioner's address.
- Click on the Practice Number field to enter the Practitioner's Practice Number.
💡Please Note: The Practice number of the Practice as registered with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) and BHF (Board of Healthcare Funders).
- Click on the SAMDC (South African Medical and Dental Council) field to enter the relevant information of the Practitioner.
- Click on the Type drop-down menu to select the appropriate option of the Practitioner that you are adding.
- Treating: A Practitioner that will treat Patients at the Practice.
- Referring: The Practitioner that refers Patients to your Practice or that you refer your Patients to.
- Assistant: Assists in procedures performed by your Practice.
- Staff: Any other staff members working at the Practice.
- Click on the Cellphone No. field to enter the Practitioner's cellphone number.
- Click on the Email field to enter the email address of the Practitioner.
- Click on the Postal Address field to enter the Postal address of the Practitioner.
- Click on the Duplicate Physical Address button to duplicate your physical address to your postal address if they are the same.
- The Status will indicate whether the Practitioner is Active on the system.
- The MediBase Status will indicate if the Practitioner is linked to MediBase.

- Click on the Save button.

- The New Practitioner will be added to the list.
