Dependant Type

A Dependant is a person who relies on the Main Member. The Spouse and Children are Dependents on the Main Members file. The Main Member is responsible for the Dependants, for financial and important decisions. 

The Dependant Type is selected to indicate the relationship to the Main Member on the Debtor file and who is financially dependent on the Main Member.

The Dependant Type can be selected from the Main Member Input screen when the Dependants are added to the Main Members file. 

Please Note: Refer to the Create New Normal Debtors and Add Dependants link or related buttons to open the Manuals on How to Create a Debtor and How to Add Dependants to an existing Debtor file. This Manual will only explain How to select the Dependant Type.

  • Log in to the GoodX Desktop App with your GoodX username and password.
  • From the Navigator, double click on the Med Debs Module.


  • The Debtor Manager screen will open.


  • Click on the Admittance button, on the Toolbar.


  • The Main Member Input screen will open.


    • In the Search field, search for the correct Debtor by Name, Surname, ID, Medical Aid number, Debtor Account Number, File Number or Address.


    • Select the correct Debtor from the Admittance list.


    • Click on the Patients (F11) button.


  • The Dependant Input screen will open.

Please Note: The user will Add a New Dependant in the Dependant Input screen. Refer to the Add Dependants link or related buttons to open the Manuals on How to Add Dependants to an existing Debtor file. 


    • When adding the new Dependant, the user can select the Dependant Type in the Type of Dependant field.


      • Click in the Type of Dependant field and press the TAB key on your keyboard to open the different Types of Dependants. The user must choose the correct one from the drop-down menu for the Dependant that is added:


        • H. Main Member: The H abbreviation is for the Main Member of the Account. The Main Member is the person responsible for payment on the Account.
        • E. Spouse: The E abbreviation is for the Spouse. The Spouse is the Husband / Wife of the Main Member.
        • K. Child: The K abbreviation is for the Child. The Child is the biological child of the Main Member.
        • S. Stepchild: The S abbreviation is for the Stepchild. The Stepchild is a child from a previous marriage of the Main Member.
        • A. Adopted child: The A abbreviation is for the Adopted child. The Adopted child is a child that was legally removed from another family and placed with another family. The child is now taken care of by the Main Member.
        • P. Foster child: The P abbreviation is for the Foster child. The Fosterchild is a child placed in the family of the Main Member to raise and take care of. 
        • N. Newborn: The N abbreviation is for the Newborn. The Main Member's Newborn is a child who was born recently.
        • T. Parent: The T abbreviation is for the Parent. The Parent can be either the Mother or Father of the Main Member.
        • D. Adult dependant: The D abbreviation is for an Adult dependant. If they are an Adult and on the Medical Aid or Account of the Main Member they can select the Adult dependant Type. The Main Member is responsible for them. The Adult Dependant can be a Sister, Brother, Grandma, Grandpa, Friend or any family member that is an Adult.
        • G. None: The G abbreviation is for the None option. If the user doesn't want to disclose the Type of Dependant or the Dependant has no direct relationship to the main Member but the Main Member is responsible for their Account, the None option can be used.
    • The Type of Dependant will display as follow on the Dependant Input screen. 


  • Click on the OK (F2) button to Save the new Dependant data.
