How to Join a Telemed Consultation


Why Use This Function:

Telemed is designed to enable face-to-face communication between Practitioners and Patients, regardless of their locations. It offers a convenient and cost-effective alternative to phone consultations, making it a popular budget-friendly choice for both Practices and Patients.

Patients can book a Telemed consultation either by phoning the Practice, or through the myGC app. Detailed instructions for booking via the app can be found in the user manual: How to Make Bookings Once Logged In.

💡Please Note: While a myGC account is not required to join a Telemed call, Patients have the option to create one if they wish. For more information on account creation, please refer to the user manual: How to Sign up.

  • This user manual will start on the SMS that you received from the Practitioner.

  • Tap on the Booking Link to be directed to the Telemed Consultation.


  • The Verify Your Identity screen will open.


  • Tap on the ID Number or Surname field to enter the relevant information. 


  • Tap on the Continue button.

  • The Welcome to Telehealth Now! pop-up will appear to advise the steps you need to follow for the call.


    • Click/Tap on the Okay, Let's Start! button.


  • You will be asked to Approve permissions for the use of your Camera and Microphone.


  • Tap on the Allow buttons to give permission.


  • The Ready to Join the Telehealth Call With screen will open.


  • Tap on the Start Call button.


  • You will Connect to the call.


  • You will need to wait for the Practitioner to join the call.


  • Once the Practitioner has joined, you will be able to continue with the Telemed Consultation.


💡Please Note: Multiple Practitioners are able to join the call, so communication is easier when multiple Practitioners are involved.


  • Tap on the Message field to enter the message that you would like to send to the Practitioner.


  • Tap on the End Call button to disconnect the Telemed Call. 


  • The Disconnect Call pop-up will appear to ask if you are sure you want to disconnect from this call.


  • Tap on the Okay button to continue.
