Why This Matters?

When patients book with you through your myGC online booking page, we can report those bookings back to your Google Ads account as conversions. This lets you see which Google Ads campaigns are actually producing bookings, and lets Google optimise your ad spend towards people who book.

πŸ’‘Important: The tracking happens inside the myGC booking pages. You do not need to install anything on your own website. All you need to do is send us the correct Google identifier (see below), and our support team will configure it for your diary.

What You Need to Send to GoodX

We need one value from your Google Ads account β€” the conversion "send to" value. It looks like this:

AW-123456789/AbC-D_efG-h1i2J3k4

It is made up of two parts joined by a slash (/):

Part Example What it is
Conversion ID AW-123456789 Identifies your Google Ads account/tag
Conversion label AbC-D_efG-h1i2J3k4 Identifies the specific conversion action

⚠️ Disclaimer: Please send the whole value, including the slash and the part after it. The Conversion ID on its own is not enough for us to record a booking as a conversion.

ℹ️ About the AW- prefix: Google sometimes displays the Conversion ID without the AW- in front β€” e.g. just 123456789 instead of AW-123456789. The AW- is still part of the ID and is required for our setup to work. If you only see the number, either add AW- to the front before sending it to us, or send us exactly what you see and mention that the AW- was not shown β€” our support team will add it. Just don't leave it off the final value.

If you run more than one diary/doctor and want them tracked separately, send us the value per diary, and tell us which value belongs to which diary.

We Also Need Your Diary's Booking Page URL

So we know exactly which diary to attach the tracking to, please also send us the external diary booking page URL. You can find it in GoodX Web under your Online Presence setup. It looks like this:

https://mygc.co.za/external/diary/<your-diary-uuid>

The last part of that URL (the long code after /diary/) is your diary UUID β€” it uniquely identifies the diary, and it is one of the things we need to complete setup. The easiest thing is to simply copy the whole URL and send it to us.

If you have several diaries, send the URL for each diary you want tracked, together with the Google value that belongs to it.

How to Find This Value in Google Ads

ℹ️ Google occasionally changes the layout and wording of these screens. The steps below reflect the general process; if a menu name differs slightly, look for the equivalent option. If you are unsure, your Google Ads specialist or agency can provide this value.

  • Sign in to Google Ads.
  • Create (or open) a conversion action for website bookings β€” typically under Goals β†’ Conversions β†’ Summary β†’ + New conversion action β†’ Website.
  • Open the conversion action and find its tag setup / "Use Google tag" details.
  • In the event snippet you will see a line similar to:

js gtag('event', 'conversion', {'send_to': 'AW-123456789/AbC-D_efG-h1i2J3k4'});

  • Copy the value inside send_to β€” that is the value we need (AW-123456789/AbC-D_efG-h1i2J3k4 in this example).

Setting Up The Conversion in Google Ads

As well as sending us the value above, you (or whoever manages your Google Ads) will create a conversion action in Google Ads that recognises a booking on your myGC page.

A setup that is known to work is a page view conversion action that triggers when someone visits your booking page. When Google asks how the conversion is counted, choose the option along the lines of "someone visits a page", and set the rule to:

URL contains: external/diary/<your-diary-uuid>

where <your-diary-uuid> is the code from your booking page URL (the part after /diary/ β€” see the section above). For example, if your booking page is https://mygc.co.za/external/diary/<your-diary-uuid>, you would enter external/diary/<your-diary-uuid> as the "contains" value.

ℹ️ Notes: - Enter the rule without a leading slash and without https://mygc.co.za β€” just external/diary/<your-diary-uuid>. - You do not need to install the Google tag on your own website β€” myGC serves the tag on your booking page automatically, using the ID you send us. (You can skip / ignore Google's "install the tag on your website" step for this.) - If Google offers to email tag instructions to your webmaster, that is not required for this setup.

What Happens After Setup

Once our support team has configured the value on your diary, the myGC booking flow will automatically report a Google Ads conversion at these points:

  • When a patient reaches the timeslot selection step of your booking page.
  • When a patient lands on the booking confirmation page.

You should start to see conversions appearing in your Google Ads account against the conversion action you set up. (Google can take some time to display the first conversions.)

Information to Give Our Support Staff

Please provide the following so we can complete the setup:

βœ… Your external diary booking page URL, e.g. https://mygc.co.za/external/diary/<your-diary-uuid> (found under Online Presence in GoodX Web). Send one per diary you want tracked.
βœ… The Google Ads "send to" value in full, e.g. AW-123456789/AbC-D_efG-h1i2J3k4, and which diary it belongs to.
βœ… Your practice name (so our support team can locate your account).

You do not need to know your client code β€” our support team will retrieve that.

If you also advertise on Facebook/Meta, ask us for the separate "Facebook Pixel tracking" guide.
