Scheme

Medical Aid Schemes are companies that provide their members with financial assistance for medical expenses, helping cover the costs of medical services. Each Scheme offers various benefit options, each with different levels of coverage and services. These schemes often have agreements with designated service providers (DSPs) who offer services at negotiated rates to reduce out-of-pocket costs for members.

Medical Aid Schemes are regulated by the Medical Schemes Act and overseen by the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS), ensuring that they operate fairly and maintain financial stability. They play a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring members have access to necessary healthcare services and supporting the overall financial sustainability of medical expenses.

Script: Health Window Integration - Medical Adherence

Medication Adherence refers to how likely the patient will comply to take the medication that is prescribed to them by a practitioner. Integration with Health Window allows the user to see the likelihood that a patient will collect their medication from the pharmacy.

Health Window is a patient adherence company that focuses on overcoming the patient’s obstacles to commence and continue therapy.

  • The Alert item on the Script:
    • The alert icon only appears once a medicine is selected, provided there exists adherence data for that medicine.
    • The colour of the alert icon is based on the adherence score of the selected medicine if available. Red < Orange < Green.
    • A popover will open when hovering over the alert icon:
      • The Popover displays the adherence score of the selected medication.
      • The Popover displays a list (up to 5) of alternative medications based on and sorted by their management status and adherence.
      • Each alternative medication has a clickable Switch element, allowing the user to switch out the originally selected medication for the corresponding alternative medication.
      • The Popover also contains a nested popover, opened by hovering over the icon next to the Adherence label, which provides additional information on adherence and the three management statuses.

Please refer to the Script glossary for more information on How to access the Basic Script.

Script: Manual Override

Manual Override on a prescription allows the user to create a prescription manually without using stock items loaded onto the system. The user will type out their desired items into fields that are provided. Some practitioners prefer to rather do a manual prescription rather than using the items from the stocklist. It will not be possible to use this feature at a practice that keeps and manages stock.

Disclaimer: Please be advised that using the Manual Override feature is not encouraged as Medical Adherence, Reports and other integrations will not be available at all. It is suggested to rather use regular scripting as much as possible, where items can be selected from the loaded Medprax or IQuest lists.
