Mark Zero Level Items as Inactive

Marking multiple stock items as inactive when the stock level reaches zero assists with stock control so that stock levels don't go into a negative, as inactive stock items can not be invoiced. When a stocktake has been completed and there are several active items with zero quantities, this feature will enable the user to mark all zero items as inactive at once. This saves time and each item will not have to be made inactive manually. This is also useful when a practice doesn't have a complete active stocklist when starting on GoodX.

Marking a Stock Item as Inactive

Marking a Stock Item as Inactive is essential for maintaining an accurate and efficient inventory system. Inactive Items are those that are no longer used, relevant to the Practice, or have been discontinued. By marking them as Inactive, the Practice ensures that obsolete stock does not clutter reports, impact ordering decisions, or appear in Stock Take snapshots.

If an Item still has stock on hand or a remaining value, the system prevents deactivation and displays a message requiring these to be zero before proceeding. This safeguard helps avoid accidental deactivation of items that still hold financial or operational significance. By implementing this process, Stock Controllers can effectively manage inventory, ensuring that records remain clean, accurate, and aligned with actual usage.

Maximum Stock Level

The maximum stock level is the quantity of material above which the stock of an item should not normally be allowed to go.

The limit is normally determined after considering storage space of the facilities, how quickly inventory is sold or used, the cost of insurance on inventory, and the risk of inventory becoming outdated before it is used.

Minimum Stock Level

The purpose of keeping a minimum stock level is to enable the stock controller to avoid running out stock.

Stock levels must never drop below this Minimum Stock Level.

This number is 0 (zero) only if backorders are not permitted.

It is determined by calculating the estimated amount of time from the beginning of production, through the time of transit, to the point at which the product is either "on the shelf" or in the hands of the customer who ordered it.
