The purpose of automatically setting up Reminder SMS's will save time and send reminder messages to all patients to remind them of their appointments without having to send a manual SMS. 

There are 2 parts to this SMS reminder function:

  • The date and time when the SMS will be sent to the patient.
  • The time when the system creates the SMS and submits the message to the SMS provider.
These 2 functions work together to search for bookings that need to receive the reminder SMS.
The SMS is created and submitted to the service provider to be sent at a specific time. 
NB: This happens every 30min, so keep this in mind when testing the function the reminder SMS will not be received immediately.

Please Note: Diary Settings are set per Diary to customize the program to the specific needs of the user. Ensure that the correct diary is selected that setting will be applied on.

Step 1: Set up of Booking Reminder SMS Template 
  • Follow the link to the user manual: Work Flow Event Templates to see how to set up an SMS Template to use in the automatic SMS.
  • A template will need to be set up to avoid blank SMSs going out to patients.


Step 2: Applying the SMS Template Set Up to Send Automatic SMS Reminders for Patient Bookings  

  • Follow the link to the user manual: Diary Settings to set up the settings for the messages to go out automatically. 
  • Make sure that the time the SMS will be sent out, is at an appropriate time not to inconvenience the patient.
